This year is a special day, we are marking the 50th anniversary of the Franco-Ontarian flag, first raised in 1975 at Laurentian University in Sudbury.
In Embrun, more than 1,000 students, committee and community members will gather for a festive tintamarre (noise parade), dressed in green and white and equipped with noisy instruments. Escorted by firefighters, the Ontario Provincial Police, mascots, and community partners, the parade will depart from École secondaire d’Embrun, pass in front of the arena, and head to the Monument de la Francophonie to proudly express their Franco-Ontarian pride.
We would like to inform the community that there will be a lot of noise on the morning of September 25, and we ask everyone to be cautious on the roads. We encourage everyone to join this joyful celebration and to proudly wear green and white and help make the Franco-Ontarian identity resonate with pride.
The official raising of the Franco-Ontarian flag will take place at around 11 a.m. at École secondaire catholique d’Embrun.
Please note that in case of rain, the event will be postponed to Friday, September 26, 2025.
